Frequently Asked Questions

What type of therapy do you offer?

I primarily use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and process-oriented therapy to support clients in making meaningful changes and addressing emotional or behavioral challenges. These approaches are evidence-based and tailored to meet your individual needs.

How do we get started? What is the therapy process like?

I believe in a structured, collaborative approach to therapy, ensuring that the process is both effective and tailored to your needs. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Free 15-Minute Phone Consultation

Before we begin, we'll have a brief, no-obligation phone consultation. This gives us the chance to determine if we’re a good fit to work together. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions and for me to get a better understanding of your goals

  • Intake Session(s)

If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an intake session, which typically lasts 50-60 minutes. During this session, we’ll gather important background information, including your history, current challenges, and the goals you’d like to work on. Depending on the type of treatment—whether individual or family work—this process can take 1 to 3 sessions. If wanting family treatment, the session may take longer or require additional appointments.

  • Clinical Questionnaires and Assessment

After the intake, I'll send you a set of questionnaires designed to assess your emotional and behavioral well-being. This helps us understand where you are and provides a baseline for tracking progress throughout therapy.

  •  Personalized Treatment Plan

Using the information from your intake session and assessments, we’ll create a customized treatment plan to guide our work. This plan        will be designed to help us stay focused on achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself.

How long are sessions and how long does therapy last?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. The duration of therapy can vary depending on your goals and the challenges you're working through. Some clients benefit from brief therapy, while others may engage in longer-term work. I will regularly assess progress and adjust the course of treatment as needed.

What is the cost of therapy?

The cost of each session is $185. The online billing system I use accepts payment via credit, debit card, including most HSA and FSA cards.

Do you accept
insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly. However, I do automatically provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt of services rendered) every month that you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.

Many people are surprised to learn they have more out-of-network benefits for mental health than they initially realize! I recommend that prospective clients contact the number on the back of their insurance card and ask the following questions to better understand their coverage:

4 Key Questions to Ask Your Insurance Representative:

  1. Does your plan include out-of-network coverage for mental health service?

  2. What is your annual deductible for mental health benefits?

  3. What is your co-insurance rate? (What percentage of the cost does the plan cover?

  4. Is there a limit on the number of sessions your plan will cover each year?

These questions can help you better understand how your insurance may contribute to the cost of services.

How can therapy help me?

Therapy can help in many ways, whether you're facing challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, or simply want to improve your emotional well-being. I work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and provide tools and strategies to help you cope, grow, and thrive.

What is a good faith estimate?

As of January 2022, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided.

Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.

There may be additional items or services I may recommend as part of your care that must be scheduled or requested separately and are not reflected in this good faith estimate. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.

The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill.

You have the right to initiate a dispute resolution process if the actual amount charged to you substantially exceeds the estimated charges stated in your Good Faith Estimate (which means $400 or more beyond the estimated charges).

This Good Faith Estimate is not intended to serve as a recommendation for treatment or a prediction that you may need to attend a specified number of psychotherapy visits. The number of visits that are appropriate in your case, and the estimated cost for those services, depends on your needs and what you agree to in consultation with your therapist.  You are entitled to disagree with any recommendations made to you concerning your treatment and you may discontinue treatment at any time.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call 1- 800-985-3059. The initiation of the client-provider dispute resolution process will not adversely affect the quality of the services furnished to you.
